With HArmonyCa You Can
REDISCOVER YOUR TRUE LOOK AT DERMMEDICA
Soften the loss of definition through the cheeks and along the jawline that comes with age, without surgery and without a long recovery. HArmonyCa holds two components in one syringe: hyaluronic acid, which adds volume on the day, and calcium hydroxyapatite, which prompts your skin to build its own collagen over the months that follow. Most people go straight back to their day when the appointment ends. Results, and how long they last, differ from person to person.
WHAT IS HArmonyCa?
HArmonyCa with Lidocaine is an injectable treatment from Allergan Aesthetics. Hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule your body already makes, draws in water and restores volume immediately. Calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres, a mineral compound closely related to what is found in bone, stay behind as a scaffold that your own fibroblasts gradually replace with new collagen. Lidocaine is included in the syringe to keep the injection comfortable. Health Canada authorised HArmonyCa with Lidocaine in May 2026 for facial soft tissue augmentation, injected into the deep dermal and sub-dermal layers.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTERWARDS
Redness, swelling, tenderness and mild itching at the injection sites are the effects most commonly reported, and they generally settle on their own within a few days. Bruising can happen, as it can with any injection. You can return to your usual routine when you leave, though we ask you to keep away from strenuous exercise, saunas and facials for the first day or two.
The added definition from the hyaluronic acid is visible immediately. The collagen response builds gradually and is usually judged at two to three months rather than at one week. Allergan reports results lasting up to eighteen months in its clinical data. How long yours last depends on your skin, your age, the area treated and how your body responds, which is why we book a review appointment instead of promising a fixed outcome.
THE HARMONYCA TREATMENT
Every HArmonyCa appointment begins with a consultation. Dr. Crippen assesses your facial structure, asks what actually bothers you, and explains what this treatment can and cannot do about it. If HArmonyCa is not the right fit, he will say so and talk through the alternatives. When you go ahead, the area is cleaned and marked and the product is placed into the deep dermal and sub-dermal layers using a needle or a cannula. The lidocaine already in the syringe takes the edge off the injection. The appointment itself usually runs under an hour.
The two components work on different timescales. The hyaluronic acid does the visible work on the day, restoring volume where it has been lost. The calcium hydroxyapatite remains as a scaffold, and over the following weeks your own fibroblasts lay down new collagen along it. That is why the result at three months tends to look different from the result at one week, and why we assess the outcome at a follow-up rather than at the door.
HArmonyCa is intended for adults with moderate to severe volume loss through the mid-face and jawline. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, where there is active infection or inflammation in the area, or where there is a known sensitivity to any of its components. Tell us about any autoimmune condition, bleeding disorder, blood-thinning medication or previous filler in the same area, since any of these can change the plan. Every injectable treatment carries risk, and Dr. Crippen will go through those with you before you decide.
COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT HARMONYCA
Is HArmonyCa the same thing as a dermal filler?
Not quite. A conventional filler such as Juvéderm restores volume and is gradually broken down by the body. HArmonyCa does that as well, and also leaves a scaffold behind that encourages your own collagen. If a straightforward volume correction is what you need, a standard filler may be the better choice, and we will tell you so.
How is it different from Botox?
They do unrelated jobs. Botox Cosmetic relaxes the muscles that create expression lines. HArmonyCa restores volume and supports collagen in the deeper layers. Some patients have both, for different reasons.
Does it hurt?
Lidocaine is mixed into the product, so the area numbs as the treatment goes on. Most patients describe pressure rather than pain. Tell us if you are uncomfortable at any point.
How soon can I go back to work?
The same day. Some swelling and redness is normal for the first few days, so if you have something you would rather not be puffy for, leave a week between the treatment and the event.
Can it be reversed?
Partly. The hyaluronic acid portion can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed. The calcium hydroxyapatite portion cannot be dissolved and resolves on its own over time. That is worth knowing before you decide, and it is one of the reasons we spend time on the consultation.
What does it cost?
Cost depends on how much product your treatment plan calls for, which is something we can only judge in person. We quote at the consultation, before anything is booked.

HArmonyCa with Lidocaine received Health Canada authorisation in May 2026, making it one of the newer injectable options available in this country. Treatment Spotlight:
MID-FACE VOLUME AND JAWLINE DEFINITION
The mid-face is usually where volume loss shows first. Cheeks flatten, the folds running from nose to mouth deepen, and the jawline loses its edge.
This is a structural change rather than a surface one. Creams and resurfacing treat the quality of the skin; they do not replace what has gone from underneath it. That is the gap an injectable placed in the deeper layers is designed to address.
Whether HArmonyCa is the right way to address it depends on how much volume has been lost, where, and what you want the result to look like. Some patients are better served by a conventional hyaluronic acid filler, some by a collagen-stimulating approach, and some by a combination. That is what the consultation is for.
